Finishing tapered dinner candles with a clean edge

I make tapered dinner candles in silicone molds, but the bottom half-centimeter often looks rough and uneven from shrinking, I'm thinking of using a guillotine cutter or something similar to trim the ends for a straight, polished finish. How do other candle makers handle this? Any tips would be great
 
I like to use a griddle to flatten the bottoms out. You know, cutting beeswax can really lead to some frustrating cracks. It's just one of those things that can be a bit of a hassle, but it's all part of the process, right?
